Managing Director, Head of Life Sciences Lending
Claes Ekstrom is a managing director at Innovatus Capital Partners and head of Life Sciences. Mr. Ekstrom leads Innovatus’ investments in life sciences and technology companies from sourcing and due diligence through realization. Mr. Ekstrom also serves on the board of directors as an observer of several portfolio companies.
Prior to Innovatus, Mr. Ekstrom was a member of the investment team at Perella Weinberg Partners Asset Based Value Strategy (the “ABV Strategy”), where he focused on life sciences investments. Mr. Ekstrom was a member of the investment committee for Life Sciences Alternative Funding, a life sciences lender founded by the ABV Strategy, where he evaluated investments in medical device lending and created a venture lending portfolio. Prior to Perella Weinberg Partners, Mr. Ekstrom was a healthcare investment banker at Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers, where he advised biotechnology and medical technology companies on M&A and financing transactions. Mr. Ekstrom started his investment banking career in 1996 as an M&A banker at Merrill Lynch.
Mr. Ekstrom received an M.Sc. degree in Economics and Business from Stockholm School of Economics.
